Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated full-time Home Support Worker to provide comprehensive assistance to an elderly couple residing in their private home. The ideal candidate will support the couple with their daily living activities, focusing on those facing mobility challenges and requiring consistent personal care. Responsibilities include managing medical necessities and ensuring their overall well-being in a respectful manner. The preferred schedule is 30 hours per week, typically 6 hours per day, 5 days a week. While the work is performed at the clients’ residence, live-in arrangements are not a requirement for this position. – Work hours: 30 hours per week
– Benefit: 4% of vacation pay
Job Duties
– Assist the client with daily personal care activities such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and hygiene maintenance to ensure his comfort and dignity.
– Provide safe mobility assistance including help with walking, transfers from bed to chair, and general movement within the home to prevent falls or injuries.
– Prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals according to the clients’ dietary preferences, and support feeding if necessary.
– Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living environment, including laundry, vacuuming, dusting, and tidying common areas.
– Offer companionship by engaging in conversations, reading, or encouraging recreational activities to promote mental wellness and reduce loneliness.
– Support medication reminders and ensure timely administration as directed to maintain adherence to prescribed schedules.
– Facilitate social interactions and support outings or visits to family, fostering an active and positive lifestyle.
– Monitor general health and report any concerns about changes in physical or emotional status to the employer promptly.
– Accompany the client to medical appointments, pharmacies, or community-based senior programs, providing reliable transportation support and ensuring their safety and mobility throughout the outing.

Requirements
– Secondary school graduation is required
– Valid driver’s license is required
– Minimum seven months of work experience in elderly care (or) completion of 6 months caregiver training course required
– Criminal record check is mandatory for safety and security reasons
