Work Location: On site

Salary: 36.50 to 38.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 35 – 40 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

Timings: Early morning, Evening, Flexible hours, Morning, Night, On call, Day, Weekend, Overtime required

Start Date:  as soon as possible

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely

Responsibilities

Tasks

Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

Professionalism in customer service

Drive lighter, special purpose trucks

Load and unload goods

Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials

Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

Perform emergency roadside repairs

Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

Perform preventive maintenance

Receive and relay information to central dispatch

Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Record trip information such as vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems
