Long Haul Truck Driver

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-oriented Long Haul Truck Driver to transport goods and materials across various locations in Canada and the United States. Work locations may vary, and frequent or constant travel is required from the employee. The successful candidate will ensure cargo is transported safely, efficiently, and in compliance with transportation and safety regulations. This position involves long-haul transportation and cross-border travel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
• Inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure proper vehicle condition
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
• Tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo
• Transport and handle dangerous goods in accordance with regulations
• Perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary
• Operate the GPS and other navigation equipment
• Prepare and maintain accident or incident reports, dangerous goods occurrence reports, inspection reports, and maintenance and repair reports

Additional Information:

• Flatbed and straight truck experience is considered an asset
• Willingness to travel cross-border and for extended periods is required
• Ability to handle loads up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
• Candidates must possess a valid driver’s licence, including Class 1/A with Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
• Steel-toed safety boots, a hard hat, and tools are required
• Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, on-call shifts, and daytime hours
