Job Summary
We are an authentic Chinese restaurant specializing in traditional Xi’an cuisine. We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the restaurant’s daily operations. The successful candidate will oversee front-of-house service, coordinate with the kitchen team, manage employees, control costs and inventory, and maintain consistent food quality and customer service standards.
Main Duties
Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the daily operations of the restaurant.
Establish and implement operating procedures for dine-in, takeout, delivery, reservations, and customer service.
Coordinate front-of-house and kitchen operations to ensure efficient service and timely preparation of Xi’an-style dishes.
Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate restaurant employees.
Assign duties and maintain appropriate staffing levels during lunch, dinner, weekend, holiday, and peak service periods.
Monitor food quality, portion consistency, presentation, spice levels, and customer satisfaction for traditional Xi’an dishes.
Resolve customer complaints professionally and implement improvements based on customer feedback.
Control inventory of food, beverages, packaging, cleaning supplies, and restaurant equipment.
Coordinate with local and specialty Asian suppliers to maintain adequate stock and quality of ingredients used in Xi’an cuisine.
Monitor revenues, food costs, labour costs, operating expenses, waste, and overall sales performance.
Review menu pricing, sales trends, ingredient costs, and customer demand, and recommend operational or promotional adjustments.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, occupational health and safety, liquor licensing, and other applicable regulations.
Prepare operational, staffing, inventory, and sales reports, and recommend improvements to service efficiency, cost control, and profitability.
Employment Requirements
Completion of secondary school is required.
A college diploma or university degree in hospitality management, food service management, business administration, or a related field is an asset.
A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience in the restaurant or food service industry is required.
Experience in a Chinese, Asian, or full-service restaurant environment is an asset.
Strong leadership, staff-management, organizational, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of restaurant operations, inventory control, labour scheduling, food-cost control, and food safety practices.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
