Critical Care Unit DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Monitor and assess critically ill patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature.  Administer medications, including intravenous drugs, to manage acute conditions and stabilize patients.  Perform advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) procedures in emergency situations.  Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using telemetry and other monitoring equipment.  Provide respiratory support, including oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation management.  Assess and manage patients' airways, including endotracheal tube placement and suctioning.  Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.  Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and emotional support.  Conduct thorough physical assessments to identify changes in patients' conditions.  Assist with bedside procedures such as central line placements, arterial line insertions, and chest tube placements.  Perform hemodynamic monitoring and interpret results to guide patient care.  Respond quickly and appropriately to changes in patients' conditions or emergencies.  Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately . Coordinate care transitions, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.  Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, to optimize patient outcomes.  Participate in code blue and rapid response teams to provide immediate interventions during emergencies.  Implement infection control measures to prevent healthcare-associated infections.  Provide wound care and manage complex wounds, including surgical site infections and pressure ulcers.  Monitor and manage pain using a variety of pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions.  Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their preferences and values are respected.  Stay current with evidence-based practice guidelines and standards of care in critical care nursing.  Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes.  Mentor and support nursing students, new graduates, and colleagues in the critical care setting.  Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.  Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress and care plans.  Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families facing endof-life decisions.  Conduct thorough handoffs and report critical information during shift changes.  Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize care and make timely decisions.  Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
