Job duties:
-Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
-Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
-Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children / Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
-Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
-Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
-Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
-Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
Requirements:
-Education: A bachelor’s degree or college diploma is required.
-Experience: Experience an asset
-Valid ECE license is required
-Valid First Aid certificate
-Satisfactory criminal record check is required
-Able to work independently
-Well developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
Additional Skills
Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Order supplies and equipment; Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
Salary:
$20.00 – $22.00 CAD hourly plus $6.00 CAD hourly BC ECE Wage Enhancement
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week from 7 AM to 6 PM / 8 hours per day / 1-hour lunch break (unpaid)
Benefits: Extended health care plan available after 90 days
