Job Description

Through the use of appropriate guidance, Petits Genies offers a safe, enriching and educational environment for children. Our play-based program incorporates some elements of Reggio Emilia and Montessori. We offer some of our curriculum in French and we emphasize the education of the whole child, which is based on the principle of respect, responsibility and community.

We are currently looking for a permanent full time Early Childhood Educator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Plan and develop programs and activities suitable for children

·         Design and create learning programs to meet children’s physical, intellectual, social, cultural, creative, and emotional needs.

·         Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.

·         Maintain and update individual record of children handled taking note of the program’s positive and negative results.

·         Develop listening, comprehensive skills using approved subjects in storytelling, role playing, games, music, and art activities.

·         Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and washroom habits.

·         Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers working with children.

·         Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding their children’s development needs and learning process.

Education, skills and experience required:

·         Completion of a college program in early childhood education is required

·         Licensing by a provincial association for early childhood educators (ECE) is required

·         Some experience in childcare or related field is strong asset

·         Willing to submit a Criminal Records Check

Language: Oral and written English skills required

Compensation and Benefits:

$22.50/hour plus ECE Wage Enhancement from the government, 4% vacation pay, Health and Dental benefits (Blue Cross)
