Full time position
Hours: 60 hours per week
Wage: $24.50 per hour
Job Duties:
􀀀 Provide live in, overnight supervision and hands-on care for elderly male
who is wheelchair bound and has advanced Alzheimer’s disease
􀀀 Assist male client with toileting, including physical transfers between bed
and wheelchair (175 lbs)
􀀀 Plan and prepare meals and special diets, and feed or assist in feeding
clients
􀀀 Perform basic cleaning duties including laundering, soiled linens and
clothing
􀀀 Assist with incontinence-related clean-up during the night
􀀀 Administer personal care to clients such as aid with moving, bathing,
personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing
􀀀 Ensure client safety and comfort during overnight hours
􀀀 Light housekeeping and tidying of common areas used
􀀀 Coordinate with family or medical professionals if emergencies arise
􀀀 Periodically drive client to medical appointments and run household
errands such prescription pick up and grocery shopping
Requirements:
􀀀 Secondary school education is required
􀀀 Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a caregiver
providing care to seniors or individuals with Alzheimer’s disease
􀀀 Home management experience is required
􀀀 First Aid certification is required
􀀀 Must be physically able to lift and safely transfer a 175 lb individual
􀀀 Strong communication skills, patience, and compassion in
supporting individuals with memory loss and behavioral changes
associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
􀀀 Must be comfortable living in the home and working independently
overnight
􀀀 Must be fluent in English (written & oral)
􀀀 Valid driver’s license
􀀀 Must be reliable, trustworthy and calm under pressure
􀀀 Must be eligible to work in Canada and provide proof of work
authorization if applicable
Living Arrangement:
􀀀 Private bedroom provided within the residence
􀀀 Shared access to kitchen and other common areas
􀀀 Room included in compensation; board (food) not included
