Compensation
$75,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of estimating and project management including, liaising with subcontractors, and preparing tenders, budgets, estimates, and fabrication/erection schedules. The Construction Manager will work with in-house and external personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the quality of work and ensuring the feasibility and cost of projects.
Job Duties
Seek out bid opportunities through public bid sites, networking & connections.
Produce complete, accurate and detailed steel bid package proposals.
Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates, estimating steel projects up to $3,000,000.
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate steel construction projects from start to finish.
Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients. Manage progress draws, invoicing, and control document processes.
Coordination of clients and sub-contractors, detailing, fabrication, shipping, erection and closeout procedures.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with general contractors, clients, suppliers and erectors.
Resolve contractual issues promptly.
Represent the company on business services and contract negotiation with general contractors, suppliers and other parties.
Maintain positive relationships with clients.
Plan and prepare steel fabrication and erection schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Construction, Engineering, Building Technology, Project Management, or Quantity Surveying.
2+ years of experience in steel industry.
5+ years of experience in construction.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and plans.
Strong understanding of construction trades, welding, steel fabrication & erection.
Basic drafting techniques (including AutoCAD and/or other drafting software)
Ability to complete material take offs from client supplied drawings
Excellent management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal codes and regulations.
Demonstrated high-level time management and organizational skills.
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Strong negotiation, diplomacy, and conflict resolution abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
Valid driver’s license.
Proficiency in office software including Excel, Word, and scheduling tools.
Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
