Concrete Finisher

Job Description

Niagara Concrete is seeking 3 skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Concrete Finisher. The successful candidates will play a vital role in our construction operations and concrete paving projects.

Responsibilities:

• Pave and rake asphalt. Assist skilled tradespersons.
• Drill dowels and tie rebar as required.
• Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces.
• Operate power vibrators to compact concrete.
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
• Perform other labouring and elemental activities.
• Read blueprints to determine work requirements.
• Set stringline for slipform concrete paving equipment.
• Form and pour concrete for curbs, sidewalks, and roads.
• Rake asphalt paving to ensure smooth and level surfaces.
• Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement.
• Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces.
• Finish concrete behind slipform concrete paving equipment.
• Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt.
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures.
• Reinforce assembled products with dowelling or other supports.
• Perform general labor tasks related to road construction operations.
• Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification.
• Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.
• Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures.
• Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment

Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor tasks.
• Previous experience in concrete paving or road construction is preferred.
• Familiarity with slipform paving equipment and construction tools is an asset.
