Located at 278 Line 5 Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, our company is central to the region’s thriving wine industry. The role of Nursery Manager is crucial to the success of our plant nursery operations. Roles + Responsibilities:
- Plant Care and Maintenance: Oversee the health and growth of plants within the nursery, including watering, tying plants, mixing fertilizer, pruning, cutting horticultural crops, and implementing integrated pest management strategies.
- Quality Control: Ensure all vines, vine canopy, and grapes meet specific quality standards. Regularly inspect plants for health issues like pests or diseases and take corrective measures.
- Inventory Management: Determine type and quantity of stock to grow. This involves ordering new stock, conducting inventory audits, and managing supply chain relationships.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of long-term plans for nursery growth and improvement, considering trends in consumer demand and advancements in horticultural practices.
- Sustainability Practices: Implement and manage sustainable gardening practices and eco-friendly operations to reduce environmental impact.
- Facility Maintenance: Manage the upkeep of nursery facilities and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working condition and safe for use.
- Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage nursery staff. This includes scheduling, supervising daily activities, and ensuring staff compliance with safety regulations.
