We provide comprehensive highway maintenance servicing areas in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. During winter operations, we focus on keeping highways clear of snow and ice through ploughing, salting, de-icing agents and patrolling along with other activities.

Principal location of Work: 10606 HWY 11, 3 Kms east of Longlac, Longlac, Ontario, P0T2A0
(field work is required)

Secondary location of Work: Fire #240, Hwy 527, Shuniah, ON P7A0N4

Job Duties:
• Operate snow removal equipment designed for highways.
• Operate other vehicles and equipment associated with highway maintenance.
• Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment.
• Perform required preventative and routine equipment maintenance, which includes but is not limited to, cleaning/washing the interior and exterior of equipment, greasing equipment and refuelling equipment after use.
• Notify appropriate personnel regarding damage to equipment as well as needed repairs and/or operational problems of equipment.
• Report malfunctions to supervisor. Report accidents, incidents and/or injuries to the Supervisor completing required documentation.
• Reporting highway conditions, public accidents and MTO property damage, including damage to highway right of way such as guide posts, flex beam and bridge handrail to the patroller on duty.
• Complete all the required paperwork.
• Other related duties.

Skills Required:
• Team player, organized, reliable.
• Helpful, friendly and courteous with the public, regulatory agencies and peers;
• Punctual and willing to work shift work;
• Physically able to meet all requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at all times;
• Must be able to obtain DZ license; AZ Licence is an asset;
• Must be able to pass drug pre-screening and have satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

Experience Required:
• On-the-job training is provided.
• Experience in Provincial and/or Municipal highway maintenance is a great asset.

Education Required:
• No formal education requirements.

Wage & Hours: $24.00 / h (upon completion of training, wage will increase to $26.36 / h as per Collective Agreement)
• Number of hours per day: 8
• Number of days per week: 5
• Number of hours per week: 40
• Overtime starts after how many hours: 44 hours per week
• Shift rotation: During winter operations, the shifts will range from 8 hours to 12 depending on the weather events. An employee must be available each day for work either days or nights. During summer operations, employees are scheduled Monday to Friday 8 hours per day.
