Job Duties:
This position is responsible for operating different pieces of equipment that are required in the recycling process. Equipment will include bag tippers, pallet jack, forklift, front end loader and baler. An equipment operator will receive, ‘sort’, bale, and ship recyclable materials.
• Complete and submit an equipment pre-trip inspection form.
• Report any defects which may jeopardize the safe operation of the equipment.
• Complete all paper and electronic documents required for production.
• Unload and load recyclable materials from different vehicle types like: tractor trailers, five tons. roll off trucks & containers. etc.
• ‘Sorting’ or preparing recyclable materials to be shipped involves:
• Physically separating paper/ fibre from plastics or non-recyclables.
• Weighing, recording & scanning bagged or palletized material.
• Pushing or dumping recyclable materials onto the baler belt, into silos or into bunkers.
• Stacking and staging.
Skills Required:
• Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must have excellent manual dexterity.
• Will perform duties that require repetitive motion.
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Will be required to bend, kneel, and climb stairs.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions due to working in a warehouse environment.
Experience Required:
• Experience is an asset.
• Mobile equipment experience, training and certification is an asset.
Education Required:
• No formal education requirements.
Wage & Hours: $21.92 – $25.76
•Number of hours per day: 8 (The shifts start from 7 am and go on until 11pm, starting June we will do 6am to 8pm (Monday to Friday)
•Number of days per week: Currently its 7 days per week, starting June we will go to 5 days per week
•Number of hours per week: 40
•Overtime starts after how many hours: after 8 hours
•Shift rotation (as applicable): The employees have fixed shifts (day or evening)
After 3-month probation period the wage will be increased as per company’s policy from $22.82 to $26.81, depending on initial wage agreed.
