On-the-Road Work

Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.

Responsibilities and Duties

·       Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, GPS equipment or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

·       Address customers’ complaints or concerns.

·       Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques.

·       Demonstrate professionalism in customer service.

·       Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.

·       Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.

·       Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.

·       Perform brake adjustments.

·       Perform emergency roadside repairs.

·       Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle.

·       Perform preventive maintenance.

·       Receive and relay information to central dispatch.

·       Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

·       Perform tarping and ensure the safety and security of cargo.
