We’re seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics to maintain our diverse fleet of equipment including CAT 797’s, D11’s, 24M’s, Komatsu 980E’s, and potentially North America’s only P&H 4800 shovel.

About the role:

The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood or Elkford, B.C is necessary.

Schedule: 4×4 and 8×8 shift schedules available consisting of days and nights

The applicants could work at any of the following locations:
·      Fording Operations located 29 km Northeast of Elkford, BC V0B 1H0
·      Elkview Operations located at 3 km East of Sparwood, BC V0B 2G1
·      Greenhills Operations located 8 km Northeast of Elkford, BC V0B 1H0
·      Line Creek Operations located at 15 km North HWY 43, Sparwood, BC V0B 2G0

Tradespeople are offered a competitive compensation package that includes:

The following operations are unionized:
o   Elkview – United Steelworkers Local 9346
o   Fording River- United Steelworkers Local 7884
o   Line Creek- Operating Engineers Local 115

The hourly wages are:
o   Elkview – $52.64
o   Fording River – $52.73 and $53.78 from 1 May 2026
o   Line Creek – $50.23
o   Greenhills (non-union) – $52.72

In this role, you will:
Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems
Providing innovative solutions and best practices
Diagnose, maintain and repair mobile off road mining equipment including haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and other heavy equipment
Working with brands including CAT, Komatsu, P&H, Hitachi, John Deere, Letourneau, Volvo, Marion upon others

Requirements:
Willing to relocate near Sparwood, B.C.
Canadian Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent or eligibility to challenge the Interprovincial Red Seal
Valid driver’s license
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Previous mining experience is an asset

Salary Description : Base earnings reflected in salary range includes the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.
Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and references.
