Responsibilities
Tasks
· Direct the delivery of social and community service programs
· Evaluate the delivery of social and community service programs
· Plan and organize the delivery of social and community service programs
· Hire and provide training for professional and non-professional staff
· Administer programs of membership organizations
· Administer the programs of non-governmental organizations involved with social issues
· Direct and advise professional and non-professional staff
· Establish administrative procedures
· Participate in policy development by preparing reports and briefs for management committees andworking groups
· Plan, administer and control budgets for projects, programs, support services and equipment
· Represent their respective organizations for the purpose of government liaison and media relations
· Resolve conflict situations
· Coaching
· Develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches
· Evaluate the effectiveness of social programs
· Monitor and evaluate
· Conduct social research
· Write research papers, educational texts and articles
· Supervise professional staff, program leaders and instructors and volunteer staff
· Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group
· Provide public education and consultation regarding counselling services, issues and methods
· Interview client individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems todetermine the types of services required
· Recruit and hire staff
· Provide consultation services to government and other organizations
· Administer tests
· Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees and volunteers
· Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia
· Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs
· Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatmentand other services
· Apply for social program funding
· Plan programs of assistance for clients
· Perform administrative tasks
