Role Summary:
Property Accountant is responsible for the overall accounting of a portfolio of Commercial real estate properties. Besides the day-to-day accounting functions, this individual is to assist the Accounting Manager or VP, Accounting & Canadian Regional Controller in any special projects as designated. Schedule:40 hours per week
Start Date: As Soon as possible
Salary: $86,000 per year

Responsibilities include:
Prepare monthly operating statements, property management reports as well as monthly/quarterly and annual financial statements
Evaluate monthly operation variances
Prepare annual budgets as directed
Prepare year-end costs statements and final billings to tenants
Ensure all accounting records related to all properties are kept up to date within guidelines established by Northwest
Responsible for various accounting reports and analyses as requested by the Accounting Manager, VP Accounting and or Senior Management
Prepare tax filing (GST/ PST) and property tax information as required.
Prepare monthly recurring journal entries as required
Prepare bank reconciliations as required
Participate in special projects as designated by Accounting Manager
Requirements:
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business/Accounting, CPA designation or in progress
3-5 years of related experience in a real estate or property accounting environment would be an asset
Experience and knowledge of Yardi is a plus
Proficient computer skills: Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to details
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be a team player while also being able to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be self-motivated and have a sense of urgency
Friendly, professional with a strong work ethic
