Job Description

Italian Sporting Goods requires an experienced gunsmith to fabricate guns and repair and modify firearms according to blueprints or customers’ specifications.

Here are just a few of the services our gunsmiths provide:

· Installation of firearm accessories, including:

· barrels · scopes

· scope mounts

· sights

· stocks

· muzzle brakes

· recoil pads

· Firearm repairs

· Warranty repairs

· Cleaning · Drilling/Tapping

· Parts manufacturing

· Rebluing · Sighting

· Test firing

· Stock refinishing

Requirements:

Experience in repair and alterations, creating parts no longer available from manufacturer, machining, handwork, file work, temper steel, remanufacture wooden gunstock, inleading, checkering, wood finishing.

Completion of secondary school. Experience of 5 years + Red Seal Certification preferred.

Canada requires gunsmiths to obtain a Possessions and Acquisition Licence (PAL) from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to work with firearms. Only individuals possessing a current licence can legally acquire and own guns in Canada. To apply for this licence, it’s a requirement to be at least 18 years old, not have a criminal record, and have a valid reason for owning a firearm. Passing the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) is also required.

 

Wages: $35 hourly plus bonuses, 40 hours per week
