Marine Engine Mechanic (NOC 72400)

Position Details:

• Permanent, full-time (40 hrs per week)
• Compensation: $46.00/hr
• Benefits: 6% Vacation Pay (3 weeks annual paid vacation) + extended health benefits (dental, vision, etc.)
• Job Location: 485 Broughton Street, Vancouver, BC V6G 3E8

Main Duties:

• Perform diagnostics, service, repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel marine engines, generators and power transmissions.
• Inspect engines and mechanical equipment for proper operation. Identify faults, wear and required repairs.
• Dismantle, repair, replace and reinstall engines, generators and related mechanical components.
• Perform repairs of propulsion, hydraulic and steering systems.
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance service of marine engines, generators and mechanical equipment.
• Install and retrofit engines, generators, pumps, thrusters, windlasses, davits and cranes.
• Read service manuals, parts diagrams, and electrical and hydraulic schematics to identify service procedures and parts required.
• Perform after-service tests of repaired and installed equipment for proper operation and best performance, including sea trials.
• Keep records of inspections, maintenance and repairs performed.

Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school.
• Relevant vocational or technical training in mechanical or marine equipment repair.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing of stationary marine engines.
• Mercury Mechanic certification is highly preferred.
• Experience working with marine engines, generators, propulsion, hydraulic and steering systems.
