Job Duties:

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Install forms and ensure quality control of formwork.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
• Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures in residences and other establishments
• Work with other apprentices and other construction workers
• Communicate with Carpenter Foreman regarding any concerns, discrepancies, or alterations that may arise during construction to a building
• Other duties as assigned

Specific Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to work with hand and power carpentry tools and other construction equipment
• Ability to assess situations and identify potential hazards

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

• Handling heavy loads; Physically demanding; Bending, Crouching, Kneeling; Standing for extended periods.

Terms of Employment:

• $34.65 per hour
• Full-time 40 hours per week, overtime as required
• 4% vacation pay
