Job Title: International Student Integration Support Worker

Wage: $25 per hour

Hours of Work Per Week: 40 Hours

About the Role: As an International Student Integration Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting students as they transition to life in Canada. You will provide guidance and support to help students navigate cultural differences, build social connections, and manage the stressors associated with adjusting to a new environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one consultations to assess international students’ needs, develop personalized action plans, and provide support for cultural adaptation and social integration. Meet regularly with students to assess progress and address any concerns.
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions on relevant topics, tracking students’ behavioural changes and responses to interventions, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Assess eligibility for social benefits and refer students to essential community resources (e.g., housing, healthcare, legal, financial assistance, employment, transportation, and daycare services), maintaining contact with these agencies.
  • Collaborate with the coaching team to identify and address students’ support needs, developing and evaluating targeted interventions. Where needed, share insights and experiences to enhance Halp’s provision of support services for international students.
  • Organize social events and activities (in collaboration with human service agencies, health care facilities, arts and sports organizations, etc.) fostering a sense of community and belonging among international students.
  • Maintain detailed records of student interactions, progress, and program outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A college-level or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or other social science disciplines. Completion of a university degree would be preferred. The candidate must have a strong understanding of human behaviour
  • Minimum of 3 years experience supporting individuals through major life transitions, ideally in cross-cultural settings.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a high volume of cases simultaneously, prioritizing needs and ensuring timely support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with diverse populations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability, with a deep understanding of cultural differences.
  • Empathy and active listening skills, with a focus on emotional support.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with experience navigating complex situations.
  • Passionate about helping international students thrive.
  • Lived experience as an international student (preferred).

Benefits Package Including:

  • Bonus: Opportunity for an annual bonus, typically ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. This bonus is dependent on various factors such as personal and company performance and is not guaranteed.
