Position: Child Caregiver/Nanny (NOC 44100 Home child care providers)
Location of Work: Victoria, BC
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (atleast 30 hours per week)
Language of Work: English
Wage: $21/hr
Position Summary
We are a welcoming family in Victoria looking for a caring, responsible, and patient nanny to help care for our two daughters, aged 2 and 9. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children of different ages and can create a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
You will play an important role in supporting our children’s daily routines, development, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for children in a safe and attentive manner
- Bathe, dress, and assist children with daily routines
- Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks
- Prepare bottles/formula and change diapers for the younger child
- Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities (reading, crafts, playtime, outdoor activities)
- Take children to and from school, daycare, and appointments as needed
- Help with homework and encourage learning
- Support children’s emotional well-being and guide behavior based on parents’ approach
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, including light housekeeping around the house
- Shop for groceries and household supplies when required
- Prepare children for naps and bedtime routines
- Assume full responsibility for the household in the parents’ absence, when needed
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Previous experience caring for infants or young children is an asset, but not required
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Patient, kind, and attentive with a genuine love for working with children
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to manage time and multitask effectively
- Creative and engaging with children (e.g., games, storytelling, activities)
- Basic cooking skills and knowledge of healthy meal preparation
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
